What’s the difference between a candid and a portrait shot? How can you achieve a more natural portrait shot? What about lighting, posing your subject, camera settings… if you have questions about portraiture photography, or just want to learn more come to the next ABC Photo Society Meeting. This Monday, Feb. 5 from 6:30 PM – 8 Pm in the Hollidaysburg Library Community Room. Well known area photographer Rob Lynn will teach all you need to know to create beautiful portraitures.

For the Jan 22 meeting, we will not be at the Hollidaysburg library. We will be joining a couple other photos clubs to watch a presentation by professional photographer, Eddie Soloway. We will be meeting at the Hollidaysburg St. Mary Church social hall meeting room (312 Clark St in Hollidaysburg). The online presentation runs from 7pm-9pm. We will be there at 6:30, so feel free to stop in early. Bring a drink, a snack, and a notepad.

Our next meeting is Monday, Jan 8th, at the Hollidaysburg Library (6:30pm). We will be learning some new tips and tricks for editing photos with Lightroom, Photoshop, and other software.

Our next meeting this Monday, September 11, at 6:30pm. The meeting will be an outing. We have been provided an exciting and unique opportunity to photograph the historic Basilica of St. Michael the Archangel in Loretto. Not only is the church beautiful the gardens are as well…also very closely located to the Schwabb estate grounds. Feel free to come early to tour and photograph the grounds, but we will be meeting with the church pastor at 6:30 PM. If the weather cooperates, maybe we can get some nice sunset pictures as well. (Please consider where you are parking so not to create an obstacle for photos.)

COST: The cost for this outing is $0 as long as you give Janet at least 5 photos that the parish can use for their church archives, advertising, for their website, facebook etc.

Our next meeting is August 21 at 6:30 PM. We will be in the library for this meeting. Ever wonder what the judges for our club photo competitions look for? Come to the meeting and “Get Inside the Mind of a Judge”.

Well, we wanted to try an outdoor portrait shoot again since the last one was rained out. But Mother Nature has decided that she doesn’t want us outside. So we’ll be in the Community Room of the library on Monday evening (from 6:30pm – 8). We’re having a “Back to Basics” night. We’ll talk exposure and composition, along with some tips and tricks for making great photos.

On Monday evening, we’ll be in the Hollidaysburg Library at 6:30pm. Brandon will be showing us some of his firework and night photography while giving us some pointers.

On Monday, May 15th, the club will meet in the Children’s Room at the Hollidaysburg Library. The Community Room is a polling place, so voting machines will be set up in there on Monday evening. For our meeting, we’ll be learning the results of the club’s print competition. Festivities start at 6:30 pm.

For tonight’s meeting, we had planned to go out and take photos of flowers, but Mother Nature is not cooperating with us. So we’ll be meeting in the Hollidaysburg Library at 6:30pm. We’ll be talking about some of the newer Lightroom updates before moving on to learn some Photoshop tips and tricks.
