There will be no meeting this upcoming Monday, Sept. 1^st as it is Labor Day and the library will be closed. We have moved our first Sept. Meeting to Monday, Sept. 8^th at 6:30 PM. It will be in the library’s community meeting room. Details on what will be discussed will be sent out later. BUT it is also the projected image competition turn-in night.

OUR NEXT MEETING: Monday, July 7th at 6:30 PM will be our annual club picnic at the picnic pavilion at the Lemon House in Cresson. Bring your own dinner, and feel free to bring a side or dessert to share. FYI: alcohol is not permitted in national state parks. 

Bring your spouse/family/etc… This will be a nice casual way to get to know each other better. Bring your camera too, the Lemon house is nicely situated at the entrance to the picnic area, and sunsets are nice up there.

We’ll give everyone some time to eat and chat, then Sally and the Competition Committee will give their presentation.

New members are strongly encouraged to attend; this is a great casual evening to get to know each other better as well.

On Monday evening, we’ll be in the library. We’ll be learning the results of the spring Print Competition. The meeting starts at 6:30 pm.

On the 28th, we will not be in the library. Our club will be photographing flowers and animals at Hospitality Spring Farm in Bedford.

We’ll be in the library on Monday evening. We’ll be talking about Spring photography ideas. We’ll be looking at places to go, things to shoot, and some tips to make nice images as Pennsylvania comes back to life after a long cold winter.

On the 17th, we’ll be in the Hollidaysburg Library. We’ll be taking a look at the winners of the PSA (Photographic Society of America) Interclub Competitions. This is a competition of photos submitted by photo clubs around the world. We’ll be viewing the winning photos and using the time to examine what makes these photos special so that we can apply the principles and techniques to elevate our own photography.

On March 3^rd we will be meeting in the library again at 6:30 PM for a presentation on Rodeo photography! Katrina will share how she got involved in this area of photography and share some of her spectacular images.

This is also the turn-in date for our spring print competition.

Due to so many members enjoying their summer away from the area this week, there will not be a meeting on Aug 5th. Our next event is the annual banquet/picnic on Aug 19th.

“Club Photo Shoots” The Altoona Blair County Photo Society has been in existence for a long time. One of the many benefits of being in the club is being able to go to club photo shoots. We have been granted access to places most people either have to pay for or aren’t granted access too. Most outings are free to club members or with a minimal fee. Generally, all that is asked is that you share some of the photos with the host location. On March 4th club members will share some images that they captured on some of the outings. Come and see!
